Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed (Book Review)

New York Times bestselling authors Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed have crafted a resonant, funny, and memorable story about the power of love and resistance. YES Jamie Goldberg is cool with volunteering for his local state senate candidate—as long as he’s behind the scenes. When it comes to speaking to strangers (or, let’s face it, speaking at all to almost anyone), Jamie’s a choke artist. There’s no way he’d ever knock on doors to ask people for their votes…until he meets Maya.

NO Maya Rehman’s having the worst Ramadan ever. Her best friend is too busy to hang out, her summer trip is canceled, and now her parents are separating. Why her mother thinks the solution to her problems is political canvassing—with some awkward dude she hardly knows—is beyond her.

MAYBE SO Going door to door isn’t exactly glamorous, but maybe it’s not the worst thing in the world. After all, the polls are getting closer—and so are Maya and Jamie. Mastering local activism is one thing. Navigating the cross-cultural romance of the century is another thing entirely. (taken from goodreads.com)

I love Becky Albertalli’s books more than anything, and I have never read anything by Aisha Saeed before, but now I know I will be checking out more of her books.

The characters that these two women have created are an amazing duo and balance each other out so well.

I loved this so much.

Jamie is HILARIOUS, I was actually laughing out loud when reading this book! The dialogue between Jamie and Maya is easy and natural, the pair play so well off of each other.

I love how both religions are important and explained, how we see different parts of the religions showcased. Both characters are parts of minorities fighting to make the political climate better for people like themselves which is so important to see. That when things happen, we can either sit down and hide our heads in the sand or we can sit up and stand up and try to be a change.

Both characters grow in different ways, Jamie learns to use his voice and Maya makes new friends and grows too.

I loved this so much and Jamies Target obsession reminds me of the weekly target trips my friends and I take every week after shabbat.

I love Jamie’s grandmother and sister, they are such genuine people who are dedicated to making the world a good place.

I will say that after reading this, I decided to give The Office a try and I can firmly say that It is not for me but I do understand the appeal.

I really really loved this book so much!!!!
