When Summer Ends by Jessica Pennington (ARC Review)

Aiden Emerson is an all-star pitcher and the all-around golden boy of Riverton. Or at least he was, before he quit the team the last day of junior year without any explanation. How could he tell people he’s losing his vision at seventeen?

Straight-laced Olivia thought she had life all figured out. But when her dream internship falls apart, her estranged mother comes back into her life, and her long-time boyfriend ghosts her right before summer break, she’s starting to think fate has a weird sense of humor.

Each struggling to find a new direction, Aiden and Olivia decide to live summer by chance. Every fleeting adventure and stolen kiss is as fragile as a coin flip in this heartfelt journey to love and self-discovery from the author of Love Songs & Other Lies.

Olivia is your type A, think it through never do anything that hasn’t been planned teenage girl. Olivia is used to having her boyfriend Zander by her side, her Aunt Sarah at home as her support and her best friend Emma with her at all times. But when her summer job falls through and she meets Aiden Emmerson her whole life flips on its head and she doesn’t know what to do.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was my subway reading back and forth from student teaching and I was so sad when I finished.

Olivia and Aiden are two different characters who fit together perfectly. They each have did so much growing through out the book. I love the friendship that blossoms between them and the relationship that eventually develops. If you’re impatient like I am, I’m warning you that I found this to be slow-burn romance and literally every time I read it I was like “JUST GET TOGETHER ALREADY I DONT HAVE TIME FOR THIS.”

I loved this so much and I strongly recommend it to anyone who loves fun, sweet, meaningful, summer romances.

Expected Release Date: April 9th, 2019
