Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams (Book Review)

Braden Mack thinks reading romance novels makes him an expert in love, but he’ll soon discover that real life is better than fiction.

Liv Papandreas has a dream job as a sous chef at Nashville’s hottest restaurant. Too bad the celebrity chef owner is less than charming behind kitchen doors. After she catches him harassing a young hostess, she confronts him and gets fired. Liv vows revenge, but she’ll need assistance to take on the powerful chef.

Unfortunately, that means turning to Braden Mack. When Liv’s blackballed from the restaurant scene, the charismatic nightclub entrepreneur offers to help expose her ex-boss, but she is suspicious of his motives. He’ll need to call in reinforcements: the Bromance Book Club.

Inspired by the romantic suspense novel they’re reading, the book club assists Liv in setting up a sting operation to take down the chef. But they’re just as eager to help Mack figure out the way to Liv’s heart… even though she’s determined to squelch the sparks between them before she gets burned. (taken from goodreads.com)

CONTENT WARNING: Sexual assault

Braden Mack is always helping other people with their romances. He knows how to wine and dine a lady, but his heart is empty, he wants wife. Liv doesn’t need a man, she is doing fine on her own. But when she looses her job and attempts to confront her boss about his inexcusable behaviors. Now, the only person she can turn to is the man she can’t stand, Braden Mack.

I love this series. Its about manly men who read romance novels in order to help fix the problems in their romantic lives. I love them.

Braden Mack is a man. He is independent, strong and just wants to be loved. I love the way we get to know his character, he has depth to him and I love that we get to know him with his mom and his nieces. I love how he develops throughout the novel.

Liv Papandreas is rough around the edges. She is a talented pastry chef and finds Braden Mack’s charm to be horrible. I had trouble with Liv at the beginning, she is very rough and has every right to be. Liv is PISSED when she finds out that Royce Preston, her boss, is a predator and an abuser. She can not wrap her head around the fact that women who have been hurt by him will not speak out. This bothered me, but Liv learns and I think this is an important part of the book.

The conversations that are had in this book are important. Mack teaches Liv to understand that not everything is black and white.

We are introduced to new characters in this book, we get to know Liv more. We see where she lives, and meet Rosie, the woman who runs the farm she lives on. Rosie is a fierce older woman who reminds me of my grandmother, may she rest in peace. Rosie is strong, and teaches Liv that its okay to allow people in and see her emotions.

I loved this book so much and I can not wait for the next book in the series! If you’re looking for a fun, sweet and important read I recommend checking this out!
