As a lot of you know, I LOVE the summer. It is by far my most favorite time of the year ever, I love when the days get longer and the weather is hot out. I love going to camp and staying up late with my friends, having fun with my campers and making memories. Theres nothing closer to real magic than the magic of working in a summer camp. Here are a list of books to get you in the summer mood, 30 books to be exact. One for each day of June! (I’m warning you now, this is a VERY LONG post. You might want to get a snack and play some music while reading. All the synopsises are from the goodreads pages for the books.) I have also linked all the reviews for the books mentioned that I have reviewed at the end of the post, this way if one of the books look interesting to you and you want to know more you can!
Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
Taylor Edwards’ family might not be the closest-knit—everyone is a little too busy and overscheduled—but for the most part, they get along just fine. This was the first Morgan Matson book I read. I loved it so much. It is funny, heartbreaking, fun, sweet and amazing. It is the perfect book for the beach or rainy June night.
2. Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
It was Sloane who yanked Emily out of her shell and made life 100% interesting. But right before what should have been the most epic summer, Sloane just…disappears. All she leaves behind is a to-do list.
On it, thirteen Sloane-inspired tasks that Emily would normally never try. But what if they could bring her best friend back?
Apple picking at night? Okay, easy enough.
Dance until dawn? Sure. Why not?

Emily now has this unexpected summer, and the help of Frank Porter (totally unexpected), to check things off Sloane’s list. Who knows what she’ll find?
Go skinny-dipping? Wait…what?
Again, Morgan Matson is the QUEEN of summer novels. This one focuses more on friendship and self discovery, while having some romance in it too.
3. The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson
Andie had it all planned out. When you are a politician’s daughter who’s pretty much raised yourself, you learn everything can be planned or spun, or both. Especially your future. Important internship? Check. Amazing friends? Check. Guys? Check (as long as we’re talking no more than three weeks).
But that was before the scandal. Before having to be in the same house with her dad. Before walking an insane number of dogs. That was before Clark and those few months that might change her whole life. Because here’s the thing—if everything’s planned out, you can never find the unexpected. And where’s the fun in that?
THIS IS MY FAVORITE. I understood Andie on a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL. Her summer is turned on it’s head and she has to learn how to make the best of it. I understand that. I also love how she has her characters from her other books come into this one.
4. Fireworks by Katie Cotugno

I love Katie Cotugno, and this one if my favorite that she has put out. It takes place in the 90’s in Orlando, and theres an epic Disney World Fireworks scene that will make your heart melt.
5-6. Nantucket Blue and Nantucket Red by Leila Howland

Such feel good, fun and cute books. I love the setting of Nantucket. The friendship between Jules and Cricket is interesting. I love the way Cricket develops.
7. Things I Can’t Forget by Miranda Kenneally
Kate has always been the good girl. Too good, according to some people at school—although they have no idea the guilty secret she carries. But this summer, everything is different…

THIS WAS SO GOOD. Miranda Kenneally writes such amazing books. I love how this one is set in summer camp.
8. Sleepaway Girls by Jenn Calontia
When Sam’s best friend gets her first boyfriend, she’s not ready to spend the summer listening to the two of them call each other “pookie.” Sick of being a third wheel, Sam applies to be a counselor-in-training at Whispering Pines camp in the New York Catskills. But what she doesn’t realize is that it’s not going to be all Kumbaya sing-alongs and gooey s’mores. If Ashley, the alpha queen of Whispering Pines, doesn’t ruin Sam’s summer, then her raging crush on the surfer-blond and flirtatious Hunter just might. At least she has playful Cole, who’s always teasing her, but is oh-so-comfortable to hang out with, and the singular gang of girls that become fast friends with Sam-they call themselves the Sleepaway Girls
This has always been my favorite summer book since the moment I read it. I love reading about Sam falling in love with camp and falling in love. I want a follow up one where Sam gets married at camp, like her wedding takes place at camp.
9. He’s So Not Worth It by Keiran Scott
Ally Ryan, come on down to the Jersey Shore and forget your troubles!
Have you recently been humilated in front of your friends and family at your former best friends birthday party? Was your almost boyfriend partly responsible for that humilation by withholding some vital information about where your estrangerd father is? Did you come home to find said estranged father sitting on your stoop?
If so, then it sounds like you could use a vacation! The Jersey Shore is the place to be. Your mother may be living with her boyfriend of only a few months, but at least the stunt Shannen pulled has put some of your friends back in your court. Even so, you’re still angry and what better way to get over Jake than to blow off some steam with local guy, Cooper. People will hardly recognize your new attitude, but the old one wasn’t getting you anywhere, so who cares!
Jake Graydon, an exciting opportunity is waiting for you in the service industry!
Are your grades so low your parents have grounded you for the summer? Did you the girl you really like unceremoniously leave you behind? Would you rather eat dirt than see your friends again? Then a job at the local coffee shop is just the ticket! Suprisingly, Ally’s father is the new manager so you get to be reminded of her nearly every day. Maybe it’s time to start flirting with your best friend’s ex or even taking school a bit more seriously. Especially when you finally see Ally and she’s hanging around with some loser and it’s couldn’t be more clear that she is over you.

Ally and Jake will always end up together. I love them. And I love this trilogy. AAAHHHHH. You need to read this trilogy if you’re looking for a fun and cute read.
10-12. City Love Trilogy by Susane Colasanti

13. 26 Kisses by Anna Michels

I loved The Carrie Diaries, both the show and the books. Carrie is a great character, she is fun and full of life.
15. Once and For All by Sarah Dessen

Sarah Dessen’s many, many fans will adore her latest, a richly satisfying, enormously entertaining story that has everything—humor, romance, and an ending both happy and imperfect, just like life itself.
Sarah Dessen is one of the queens of romance. I loved this book so much, it made me cry and laugh. It does touch upon some heavy topics, like grief and school shootings. The writing is great and the characters are so much fun.
16-18. The Summer I Turned Pretty Trilogy by Jenny Han
Belly has always lived for the summertime because it means all her favorite things: swimming, the beach and the Fisher boys, Conrad and Jeremiah. She has spent every summer with them at Cousins Beach for as long as she can remember. She has always been in love with Conrad and finally, one summer, it seems like he might have feelings for her too. But it turns out, so does Jeremiah.
As the summers go on, Belly has to choose between two brothers who love her as she comes to the realization that she will have to break one of their hearts.
ALRIGHT. This is the first summer romance trilogy I read and I own each book. Belly is soulful, young, naive and learns SO much in these books. She grows up in so many ways and falls in love and its so good to read. I love Jenny Han and if you havent read anything by her, you are truly missing out.
19. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

THIS BOOKS IS AMAZING. Sam and Jace come from such different worlds but are so perfect together. We get to meet the most amazing people (and some of the worst too).
20. When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh. Dimple knows they must respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed a husband right now, they wouldn’t have paid for her to attend a summer program for aspiring web developers…right?
Rishi Patel is a hopeless romantic. So when his parents tell him that his future wife will be attending the same summer program as him—wherein he’ll have to woo her—he’s totally on board. Because as silly as it sounds to most people in his life, Rishi wants to be arranged, believes in the power of tradition, stability, and being a part of something much bigger than himself.
The Shahs and Patels didn’t mean to start turning the wheels on this “suggested arrangement” so early in their children’s lives, but when they noticed them both gravitate toward the same summer program, they figured, Why not?
Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.
Dimple is amazing. I loved learning more about the Indian culture. I love how fierce Dimple is. It’s great being able to see both Dimple and Rishi’s feelings towards their culture.
21. The Wonder of Us by Kim Culbertson

Kim Culbertson writes some of the best novels I have read. Abby and Riya have a real friendship, their issues are ones that friends deal with all the time. The adventures they go on are so much fun to read about.
22. I See London, I See France by Sarah Mylnowski
I see London, I see France, I see Sydney’s underpants.
Nineteen-year-old Sydney has the perfect summer mapped out. She’s spending the next four and half weeks traveling through Europe with her childhood best friend, Leela. Their plans include Eiffel-Tower selfies, eating cocco gelato, and making out with très hot strangers. Her plans do not include Leela’s cheating ex-boyfriend showing up on the flight to London, falling for the cheating ex-boyfriend’s très hot friend, monitoring her mother’s spiraling mental health via texts, or feeling like the rope in a friendship tug-of-war.
As Sydney zigzags through Amsterdam, Switzerland, Italy, and France, she must learn when to hold on, when to keep moving, and when to jump into the Riviera…wearing only her polka-dot underpants.
I read this book before I went on my trip to London in January and I loved every second of this book. The two friends are so different but help keep each other grounded. Their adventures, arguments and antics are great to read about. Also, the guys in this book are so swoon.
23. I’m Glad I Did by Cynthia Weil

This was SO good! A fun, fast paced, smart and heart felt read. I loved being able to read about NYC in the 60’s. You felt like you were living the story with the characters.
24. Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett
The one guy Bailey Rydell can’t stand is actually the boy of her dreams—she just doesn’t know it yet.

I loved this. I had never read any of Jenn Bennett’s other works before, but now I 100% will. I loved being able to learn about surf culture. You really got the feel of summer in this novel.
25-26. Rules of Summer and Since Last Summer by Joanna Philbin
When seventeen-year-old Rory McShane steps off the bus in East Hampton, it’s as if she’s entered another universe, one populated by impossibly beautiful people wearing pressed khakis and driving expensive cars. She’s signed on to be a summer errand girl for the Rules—a wealthy family with an enormous beachfront mansion. Upon arrival, she’s warned by other staff members to avoid socializing with the family, but Rory soon learns that may be easier said than done.

A really fun duology about the super rich in the Hamptons and the way they summer.
27. Little Black Dresses, Little White Lies by Laura Stampler

From awkward run-ins with the cute neighborhood dog walker to terrifying encounters with her crazed editor, from Brooklyn gallery openings to weekends in the Hamptons, Harper finds out what it takes to make it in the Big City—and as the writer of her own destiny.
Another NYC based novel. I loved this book. I actually learnt a HUGE lesson from this book, dont say sorry for something you dont need to apologize for. I love Harper and all of the friends she makes. And Ben and his dogs are amazing.
28. Come Back To Me by Mila Gray

This book made me laugh and cry all at once. Jessa and Kit are endgame, thats just what it is. This story is filled with amazing, heat fluttery, amazingly cute summer moments.
29. Hello, Goodbye and Everything In Between by Jennifer E. Smith
On the night before they leave for college, Clare and Aidan have only one thing left to do: figure out whether they should stay together or break up. Over the course of twelve hours, they retrace the steps of their relationship, trying to find something in their past that might help them decide what their future should be. The night leads them to family and friends, familiar landmarks and unexpected places, hard truths and surprising revelations. But as the clock winds down and morning approaches, so does their inevitable goodbye. The question is, will it be goodbye for now or goodbye forever?
This is the best book to read before you go off to college. It takes place on the last night that Clare and Aidan are home before leaving for college, so imagine it being a hot and sticky August night. This book has ALL THE FEELS in it, you will feel EVERYTHING. Make sure you have tissues, they are needed for this book.
30. The Boys Next Door by Jennifer Echols
Cute, available, and one cabin over….
Lori lives for summertime on the lake. She spends all season wakeboarding, swimming, and hanging with her friends—including the two hotties in the house next door. With the Vader brothers, Lori’s always been one of the guys.
But while Lori and the “baby” brother, Adam, are inseparable friends, she can’t deny a secret crush on Sean, the older Vader boy. This year Sean’s been paying Lori a lot of attention, and not in a brotherly way.
But just as Lori decides to prove to Sean she’s girlfriend material, she realizes that her role as girlfriend to Adam may be even more important. And by trying so hard for the perfect summer romance, she could be going way overboard….
This is actually the first summer novel I ever read. I read this back in the eighth grade. I found it in my house and I LOVED it so much. It’s what got me hooked on the romantic comedy novels and I LOVE this story. It’s so sweet and perfect.
