The Heartbreakers by Ali Novak

Stella will do anything for her sick sister, Cara—even stand in line for an autographed Heartbreakers CD… for four hours. She’s totally winning best birthday gift this year. At least she met a cute boy with soft brown hair and gorgeous blue eyes while getting her caffeine fix. Too bad she’ll never see him again.

Except, Stella’s life suddenly turned into a cheesy love song. Because Starbucks Boy is Oliver Perry—lead singer for the Heartbreakers. And even after she calls his music crap, Oliver still gives Stella his phone number. And whispers quotes from her favorite Disney movie in her ear. OMG, what is her life?

But how can Stella even think about being with Oliver—dating and laughing and pulling pranks with the band—when her sister could be dying of cancer? (synopsis taken from alinovak.com)

Books from Wattpad that become published books sometimes make me nervous. I am not going to lie, there are a lot of very weird things published on that website,  which is why I am always wary when I pick up a book that was originally from Wattpad. Sometimes they are trash and sometimes they are some of the best books. This is one of the best books.

I love boy bands. Always have and always will. It all started with The Backstreest Boys when I was a kid and continues until this day. The Heartbreakers remind me a lot of The Vamps, which makes me happy because I have started to really like The Vamps’s music. I like how we get to see what feels like, the real side of a boy band and how famous people aren’t really anything special. I used to be obsessed with reading People magazine like every week, now I really couldn’t care less.

When Stella meets Oliver Perry in Starbucks, she doesn’t know its him but when her and her brother, Drew (Stella, Drew and Cara are triplets.) keep running into them she puts the pieces of the puzzle together.

The boys have such different personalities, making the reader be able to really connect to one of them. I connected to Oliver and Alec, the way Alec payed so much attention to his surroundings but also how Oliver interacted with other people. Oliver’s outgoingness and bubbly personality was a stark contrast to Stella. In the beginning of the book, Stella has this guard up and she is constantly worrying about other people besides herself. This makes sense, because Stella’s sister is sick with cancer.

The writing of the story was great. I am very excited for when Paper Hearts comes out. I do want to see more of Drew though, I love his relationship with his sister.

Let me know in the comments your favorite boy band! Thanks for reading! See you next time!
