Nemesis (n.) 1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome; 2) A person’s undoing; 3) Joshua Templeman.
Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman hate each other. Not dislike. Not begrudgingly tolerate. Hate. And they have no problem displaying their feelings through a series of ritualistic passive aggressive maneuvers as they sit across from each other, executive assistants to co-CEOs of a publishing company. Lucy can’t understand Joshua’s joyless, uptight, meticulous approach to his job. Joshua is clearly baffled by Lucy’s overly bright clothes, quirkiness, and Pollyanna attitude.
Now up for the same promotion, their battle of wills has come to a head and Lucy refuses to back down when their latest game could cost her her dream job…But the tension between Lucy and Joshua has also reached its boiling point, and Lucy is discovering that maybe she doesn’t hate Joshua. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.
THIS BOOK WAS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I HAVE READ IN A VERY LONG TIME. I want to thank Chelsea from Chelseadollingreads on YouTube (you should ALL go check her out because she IS AMAZING.)
Josh and Lucy couldn’t be any more different if they tried. They hate each other and want nothing more than the other person to leave their job, but until one weak moment in the elevator everything was fine.
This is the ultimate enemies to lovers story and IT IS AMAZING. These characters develop into so much more. Josh starts out as hard and stand-offish, the more we get to know him we see he is actually shy. Lucy is fun and driven, she loves her job and wants everyone around her to be happy.
I love how the characters work in publishing, I feel like we don’t have many characters that work in that area. And to see Lucy’s love for her job was really great.
While the story is enemies to lovers there is also a bit of fake relationship in this. I am warning you that this story is pretty steamy, so please be warned when picking this story up.
