#SBPT Introduction: Meet Lefty!

Welcome to my first post for the Summer Blog Promo Tour run by The Book Bratz. You should totally check out their blog, they are super amazing and friends of mine! So once you finish reading this, I highly suggest you stop by both Lefty’s and The Book Bratz’s blogs! Throughout the summer, Lefty and I will be posting blog posts together alternating  blogs! But this week we will both be posting an introduction post about each other! So in this post, I asked Lefty 10 questions about herself and her blog.

  1. What book got you into reading?

I wish this weren’t my answer, but the truth is…Twilight. I’d read books before that, obviously, but Twilight was the first book that I fell head over heels for. I’m too ashamed to tell you how many Team Edward shirts I used to own. On the bright side, though, Twilight introduced me to the world of paranormal YA, which led me to discovering Vampire Academy, which is one of the most important books in my life.

2. If you could choose any profession what would you choose and why?

My instinct is to say writer, and that’s true, but I’m already pursuing that, so it feels like a cheat answer. I guess maybe a television writer would be my dream job. I’d love to adapt my favorite books into television series.

3. Favorite school field trip?

I don’t know if this really counts as a field trip but when I was in high school, my choir took a trip to New York. It was incredible. When I was in college I ended up taking another trip with my high school choir–this time to Ireland! It was the first time I’d ever left the country.

4. What is one kids book you could read over and over again?

I don’t really read kids books. Maybe Junie B. Jones? Those books were always so much fun!

5. Do you have any allergies?

No, thankfully.

6. If you could spend a year in any country where would you go?

As someone who is currently on month 5 of a 6-month study abroad program in Austria, this is a tough question. As of right now, I’m just ready to be back in the States. But if I were going to study abroad again, I think I’d want it to be in London. It’s expensive, but at least it’s an English-speaking country.

7. What’s your favorite part of being a book blogger?

I’ve been a book blogger for a long time and there are SO many things I love about it–being able to connect with other book lovers, having something that is completely mine–but whenever I take a break from blogging, the thing I always miss most is how in the loop I am when I’m blogging. I love knowing about upcoming releases and exciting book announcements and, though it’s exhausting, I like knowing all the drama within the community.

8. How many languages do you speak?

One, for the most part. I speak very basic German, but it’s not as good as it should be since I’m living in a German-speaking country–oops.

9. What is your all time favorite book?

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. This whole series has played such a major role in my life. It got me through some really tough times. I even have a molnija tattoo behind my ear!

10. Do you listen to music when you read?

Nope! I am the type of person who needs silence when I read. I’m the same way when I’m writing. Sometimes I’ll play music I don’t know so it doesn’t distract me, but I mostly prefer silence.

More about Lefty:

My book blog is like my secret, Hannah Montana identity. I go by Lefty on the internet so real-life people can’t find me. I’m a 22-year-old, soon-to-be grad student for creative writing. I read a lot of YA books (though I’m trying to broaden my horizons), watch a lot of bad television shows, and listen to a lot of indie music nobody has ever heard of. I’m not really all that interesting, but I have been to 12 different countries, I drink FAR too much coffee, and I am fond of people who will sing in public with me. I’m also passionate about cats, Italian food, horror movies (all things creepy, actually), and tattoos.

Though I’m not good at initiating conversation, I love love love to meet others in the community. Find me on twitter and instagram at @leftyreads (I highly suggest going over and saying hi! She’s super sweet and fantastic!)

Heres where you can find The Book Bratz and Lefty Reads!
