Talking to other people isn’t Kate Bailey’s favorite activity. She’d much rather be out on the lake, soaking up the solitude and sunshine. So when her best friend, Alana, convinces Kate to join their high school’s podcast, Kate is not expecting to be chosen as the host. Now she’ll have to answer calls and give advice on the air? Impossible.
But to Kate’s surprise, she turns out to be pretty good at the hosting gig. Then the podcast gets in a call from an anonymous guy, asking for advice about his unnamed crush. Kate is pretty sure that the caller is gorgeous Diego Martinez, and even surer that the girl in question is Alana. Kate is excited for her friend … until Kate herself starts to develop feelings for Diego. Suddenly, Kate finds that while doling out wisdom to others may be easy, asking for help is tougher than it looks, and following your own advice is even harder.
Kasie West’s adorable story of secrets, love, and friendship is sure to win over hearts everywhere.
Kate is shy and to be frank, isn’t the biggest fan of other people. So when her best friend, Alana convinces her to join the podcast class at their school. But once she’s behind the mic, she starts to get more comfortable with who she is, and giving advice becomes something easy. But when she is the one who needs advice, it’s much harder than giving advice to your friends.
I am a huge fan of Kasie West and this did not disappoint. The setting of a lake town and a small high school gives the book a warm and fuzzy feel. Almost making it seem like eternal summer. Kate’s family is adorable, I love how close they are to each other.
The characters are fun and easy to like. I loved the family dynamic with Kate’s family, as someone who is also extremely close with their cousins.
I loved how Diego was close with his sister and her kids too, it was nice to see a more family focused cast of characters. The cast was diverse with a Hispanic love interest and a Hawaiian best friend. We did get to learn about the other characters heritage a little and about the food they eat, which was a super fun scene.
I really enjoyed this one, I totally recommend it to anyone who enjoys fun contemporary romance.
