The second book in the Juniper Falls series from NY Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Julie Cross, perfect for fans of Miranda Kenneally and Abbi Glines.
Haley Stevenson seems like she’s got it all together: cheer captain, “Princess” of Juniper Falls, and voted Most Likely to Get Things Done. But below the surface, she’s struggling with a less-than-stellar GPA and still reeling from the loss of her first love. Repeating her Civics class during summer school is her chance to Get Things Done, not angst over boys. In fact, she’s sworn them off completely until college.
Fletcher Scott is happy to keep a low profile around Juniper Falls. He’s always been the invisible guy, warming the bench on the hockey team and moonlighting at a job that would make his grandma blush. Suddenly, though, he’s finding he wants more: more time on the ice, and more time with his infuriatingly perfect summer-school study partner.
But leave it to a girl who requires perfection to shake up a boy who’s ready to break all the rules.
Before I jump into the review, I want to thank Julie Cross, Entangled Teen and Netgalley for providing me an eARC in exchange for this honest review. I have really been getting into reading on my Kindle more because of these books and it’s crazy just how many books I can get through during the month because I read on my e-reader now too.
Hayley and Fletcher have never spoken to each other before this summer. Well, except for an incident in pre-school that only Fletcher can remember but besides that they have nothing to do with each other. But then a summer school class throws them together, forcing them to become friends.
Hayley and Fletcher are such different characters. Both have their flaws, but I loved reading about them. Hayley’s friends are fun and fierce. Both Fletcher and Hayley grow into understanding who they are and why they fit so well together.
Fletcher’s family is loyal and fun, they really help give strong background as to who Fletcher is. I do wish we got to see more of Hayley’s family. But it makes sense why we don’t see Hayley’s family, Hayley is very independent.
I am a big fan of Julie Cross’s other books that she wrote with Mark Perini and this was just as good. I really enjoyed this story. I am a huge fan of sports romance novels, I have been reading a lot of them lately. Which is funny because I really don’t like sports in real life. I haven’t read the first book yet of this series, so I have that on hold at my local library.
I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fun sports romance. It’s a quick read that will make you wanting more when its over.
